ABSTRACT

Pediatric Tuina is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine, but the operation technical standard is less developed. It is favored by TCM practitioners in China and abroad, due to its simple operation and clinical effects. The specific acupoint of pediatric tuina is the core of its therapy, but due to the numerous schools of pediatric tuina in China, the consensus of location and operation on some specific acupoints have not been reached. To meet the clinical practice needs of pediatric tuina practitioners and follow the evidence-based principles, we determined to develop International Pediatric Tuina Specific Acupoints and Operation Technical standaeds, considering the diversity of pediatric tuina schools. We hope to lay a foundation for evidence-based practice, trials design and guidelines development of pediatric tuina.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy, safety and recurrence rate of Acupoint Pressing Therapy of Zang and Fu in the treatment of children with functional constipation. Methods:A total of 120 children with functional constipation form the First Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to June 2021, were divided into two groups randomly, 80 in observation group and 40 in control group. Both groups were treated with routin therpy. The observation group was treated with Acupoint pressing therapy of Zang and Fu, and the control group was treated with Xiaoerhuashi syrup. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks. Before and after treatment, TCM syndromes were scored, daily defecation and spontaneous defecation response were recorded, and the efficacy was evaluated. The patients were followed up for 4 weeks and the recurrence was recorded. Results:Seventh and 14th day after treatment, the effective rates of TCM syndrome efficacy in the observation group were 87.5% (70/80) and 92.5% (74/80), and 62.5% (25/40) and 80.0% (32/40) in the control group. The scores of main symptoms, secondary syndromes and total scores of TCM syndromes in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group ( P<0.01 or P<0.05) at 7th day ( t values were 2.90, 2.77 and 3.93) and 14th day ( t values were 4.24, 5.95 and 6.27) after treatment. The effective rates of the observation group was 83.8% (67/80) and that of the control group was 65.0% (26/40). The difference between the two groups was statistically significant ( χ2=5.38, P=0.020). In the follow-up, the recurrence rate of the observation group was 9.5% (7/74) and that of the control group was 18.8% (6/32). There was no significant difference between two groups ( χ2=1.79, P=0.181). Conclusion:Acupoint Pressing Therapy of Zang and Fu has the advantages of curative effect, low recurrence rate and safety in the treatment of children's functional constipation.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the effect of pediatric massage combined with nerve growth factor treatment on the neurological function of children with acute ischemic hypoxic encephalopathy (HIS).Methods:A total of 96 children with HIS who were treated in Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology from February 2017 to October 2019 were selected for the study. The children were divided into 2 groups using a random number table method, with 48 cases in each group. The control group was treated with nerve growth factor on the basis of conventional treatment, and the observation group was treated with pediatric massage on the basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy, neurobehavior, intelligence index, EEG index, cerebral blood flow and hematology index were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 95.84%, which was higher than 81.25% of the control group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant ( χ2=5.03, P=0.025). The 28-day NBNA score ( t=-2.55, P=0.012) and three-month MDI and PDI of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group ( t values were -3.43, -2.65, all Ps<0.01). After treatment, the EEG spike wave amplitude of the two groups of children decreased significantly, and the decrease was greater in the observation group[(35.02 ± 4.16) mV vs. (46.92±5.81)mV, t=11.54]. After treatment, the cerebral blood flow of the two groups of children increased significantly, and the increase was more significant in the observation group [(179.36 ± 22.25) ml/(100 g?min) vs. (158.30±14.92) ml/(100 g?min), t=-5.45]. After treatment, the levels of MBP, NSE and VEGF in the two groups of children decreased significantly, but the decrease in the observation group was greater ( t values were 3.29, 4.07, 8.17, all Ps<0.01). Conclusion:Pediatric massage combined with nerve growth factor alone can improve the curative effect of children with HIS, improve neurobehavioral and intelligent indicators, increase cerebral blood flow, and reduce EEG spike wave amplitude and MBP, NSE and VEGF levels.

ABSTRACT

This paper summarizes the academic characteristics, main treatment methods and manipulation characteristics of the sixpediatricmassage schools, including Sun Chongsan massage school, Zhang Hanchen massage school, pediatric chiropractic massage school, Shanghai pediatric massage school and Liu Kaiyun massage school, and introduces the ideas and methods of each school in the treatment of infantile anorexia. Forchildren’s anorexia, massage has various methods, but is reliable curative effect, simple and safe operation. At present, there are more experience summary literature and case reports, but few RCT with multi center or large sample. The research on the mechanism of massage is few. The academic ideas, syndrome differentiation methods and massage methods of various schools showed different, so it was difficult to establish a unified standard guide. Therefore, on the basis of inheriting the academic characteristics of various schools, we should further promote the establishment of a modern clinical pediatric massage system and clarify its mechanism.
